About the Team:
The Revenue Accounting Manager will lead the revenue accounting and reporting process across the Company in accordance with ASC 606 while partnering with the Finance Operations, Sales, and FP&A teams. You will also be responsible for accounting processes related to sales compensation and working with the Sales Operations and HR teams. You will report to the Controller and work across the teams.
Responsibilities:
Their main responsibilities will include:
- Work with our Revenue Policy team to understand customer contracts to ensure revenue recognition per ASC 606 across our products and services
- Responsible for the revenue related balance sheet accounts, including deferred revenue and unbilled revenue
- Oversee the revenue month end close process including preparation of journal entries, account analysis and reconciliation of revenue accounts to deliver accurate financial results
- Prepare revenue reporting and analytical materials to support companywide monthly and quarterly reporting deliverables
- Oversee the accounting for our sales incentive compensation programs
- Work cross functionally to standardize procedures, guide process improvements and automation efforts to improve revenue accounting operations and improve quality of monthly closes, including internal controls.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting is required
- CPA preferred
- Experience with US GAAP and ASC 606, IFRS a plus
- 4 years of experience in an audit firm with exposure to SAAS companies or 5-6 years of experience in Finance/Accounting in SAAS / "SAAS-like" technology companies or organizations
- Experience with Workday, or other similar ERP software
- Working knowledge of Salesforce platform and/or Adaptive a plus
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with Finance Operations, Sales, and FP&A teams
- Strong organizational skills and an eye for detail
- Passion for new accounting knowledge and tools, always ready to expand your skillset
The salary range posted below refers only to positions that will be physically based in New York City. As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than New York City, may differ based on the local market data in that region. The base salary pay range for this position is $114,750 - $153,000.
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
