About the Team:
As a Senior Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), you will join our leadership team within the finance organization. Reporting to the Director, FP&A, this highly visible role will be instrumental in driving the company's financial strategy, providing critical insights to senior leadership, and leading a team of FP&A professionals.
The ideal candidate will possess deep analytical expertise, a strong business acumen, exceptional communication and executive presence, and a proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams. You will partner closely with executive stakeholders across various business units to influence strategic decision-making, optimize business performance, and contribute directly to the company's growth and profitability. Specifically, the role acts as a primary financial lead for all LSE software revenue, ensuring top line strategy aligns with financial outlook and execution.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of FP&A managers and analysts, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the development and execution of the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and long-range strategic plans, ensuring alignment with company objectives and providing strategic recommendations.
- Drive the preparation and presentation of sophisticated monthly and quarterly financial reports and analyses to senior management and the executive leadership team, including comprehensive variance analysis, key performance indicators (KPIs), and strategic insights.
- Develop and maintain complex financial models to evaluate strategic initiatives, business cases, mergers and acquisitions, and other significant investment decisions.
- Serve as a key financial business partner to executive leadership within assigned business units, providing strategic financial guidance and influencing decision-making.
- Identify and analyze key business trends, risks, and opportunities, and proactively communicate insights and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
- Lead and drive process improvements and automation initiatives within the FP&A function to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Oversee the development and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) across the organization, working with business leaders to drive accountability and performance management.
- Lead ad-hoc strategic financial projects and analyses as required by senior management and executive leadership.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, macroeconomic factors, and best practices in financial planning and analysis, and proactively share insights with the team and leadership.
- Participate in strategic planning discussions and provide financial perspectives to inform long-term business direction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA or relevant advanced degree is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, with a significant portion in a leadership role managing teams.
- Proven track record of leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing FP&A teams.
- Deep understanding of GAAP and financial accounting principles.
- High level proficiency in Excel and financial modeling, with the ability to build sophisticated and dynamic models.
- Experience with financial planning and reporting systems (Adaptive is a plus).
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Outstanding communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills, with proven experience presenting to executive leadership.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to understand the drivers of business performance.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is highly desirable.
- Experience with SaaS business models and metrics, and/or the life sciences industry, is a significant plus.
The salary range posted below refers only to positions that will be physically based in [city, state]. As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than [city, state] may differ based on the local market data in that region. The base salary pay range for this position is $135,000.00 to $190,000.00
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
