About the Team: 

We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Sr. Manager, Engagement and Communications to lead project initiatives that create lasting improvements in patient and site experiences and internal engagement efforts. 

Reporting to the VP, Research Site Engagement, this role is ideal for a mission-driven leader with a strong foundation in communication frameworks, public policy, and social impact strategy, backed by advanced study and deep expertise in social issues and technology. The successful candidate will craft and implement communication and engagement initiatives that enhance corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, empower patient and site communities, and drive measurable social change in clinical research. Additionally, this role will foster alignment across internal teams, spearhead initiatives that strengthen employee engagement with social impact priorities, and cultivate an inclusive and mission-driven workplace culture.  The ideal candidate will solidify the 'Insights-as-a-Product' model, ensuring that complex site, patient, and clinical insights are synthesized into high-impact narratives that align internal stakeholders and generate internal awareness and engagement and commercial value.

Responsibilities: 

Develop compelling messaging, reports, and thought leadership content that highlight the company’s commitment to social impact and patient engagement. Craft and execute communication strategies that effectively engage both internal staff and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment in messaging. Drive communication to foster a culture of "Patient-Centric" and "Site-Centric" social impact.

Empower employees with resources and narratives that reinforce the company’s mission, while also amplifying the organization’s impact through external advocacy efforts, industry discussions, and public-facing initiatives.

Design innovative strategies to drive awareness and engagement with OSIE mission and vision with both internal and external stakeholders.

Partner with internal teams, enhancing the company’s reputation as a leader in ethical research while fostering employee pride and engagement in meaningful, globally impactful work.

Develop and execute our Communication and Engagement Strategy, and centralized communication calendar and dashboard

Cultivate and maintain meaningful relationships with sites and patients, advocacy groups, policymakers, and internal stakeholders to ensure their diverse voices inform company initiatives. Foster collaboration across teams to align internal efforts with external partnerships to drive impactful strategies that reflect the needs of both employees and the broader community.

Define key performance metrics for all communication campaigns. Utilize OSIE scorecards and dashboards to demonstrate the effectiveness of messaging in driving business outcomes, moving beyond qualitative satisfaction to quantitative ROI.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s required, Master’s degree preferred in humanities, social sciences, communications, public policy, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in corporate social responsibility, patient advocacy, communications, or related fields.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience in thought leadership, storytelling, and stakeholder communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships across diverse communities, advocacy groups, and corporate stakeholders.
  • Strong background in clinical trials software and technologies and life sciences.
  • Experience measuring and reporting on social impact initiatives with clear, data-driven insights.
  • Passion for healthcare, patient, site, and employee engagement, and advancing equity in clinical research.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing culture by engaging with cross-functional teams, internal stakeholders and external partners. Demonstrate a team-oriented approach by mentoring colleagues and facilitating open communication, building consensus, and inspiring others to contribute to Medidata’s mission to power smarter treatments and healthier people.
  • Experience managing high-stakes stakeholder communications within a matrixed organization, ideally in a data-driven or technology-focused environment.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven synthesis tools (e.g., NotebookLM) and project management platforms (e.g., Wrike)

As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than New York City, may differ based on the local market data in that region.

The salary range for positions that will be physically based in New York is $135,000- $180,000

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
