About the Team:

The Lead Technical Content Strategist will be responsible for user documentation that accompanies the assigned software product or products. The Lead Technical Content Strategist will perform the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Apply Technical Communication fundamentals to assigned documentation projects

  • Participate as a member of an Agile product team for assigned products

  • Coordinate and enable assignments for support of TCS resources in order to meet all expectations for release deliverables

  • Demonstrate domain expertise in assigned products and cross platform integration, as well as high level expertise in multiple products

  • Scope, research, plan, create and test deliverables using Medidata's brand standards and processes

  • Translate complex technical content into clear and concise articles

  • Build accurate description of tasks and concepts and user workflows in the assigned products' knowledge spaces; optionally, apply API documentation concepts

  • Use content authoring, delivery, and measurement tools - Confluence, Jira, Notebook LM, Google suite, Acrolinx, Pendo

  • Conduct content analysis and implement improvements based on feedback

  • Interview subject matter experts (SMEs) regarding assigned products

  • Serve as a peer editor to others' content

  • Negotiate deliverables and apply problem solving skills to reach project decisions independently in a timely manner

  • Participate in UX meetings regarding user messaging, screen design, propose and implement Context Sensitive help (CSH), as well as coach junior writers regarding CSH implementation as necessary

  • Demonstrate knowledge of translation mechanics and consult with product teams on translation practices and collaborate with translation team on deliverables

  • Contribute to and be assertive in promoting TCS presence through participation and presentation within MGE, TCS, experience pillars, and product teams

  • Participate and/or lead internal/external initiatives to completion and track implementation for self or team

  • Assist TCS management with planning solutions

  • Coach team on TCS best practices and process implementation, including knowledge space planning and content organization

  • Coordinate and enable assignments for support TCS resources in order to meet all expectations for release deliverables.

  • Lead documentation efforts at a solution level (suite of products)

Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • Ten to fifteen (10-15) years of technical writing experience, preferably with software or online systems

    • Clinical Experience a plus

    • Experience with Rave CTMS or related CTMS software a plus

  • Education:

    • Bachelor degree in English, Technical Communication, Engineering or scientific discipline strongly preferred.

    • A Master's degree a plus

    • CPTC (STC Certification) a plus

    • Project Management (PMI/PMP) certification a plus

    • Scrum certification or relevant training a plus

  • Communication skills:

    • Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills (both spoken and written)

    • Demonstrate emotional intelligence and open mindedness toward diversity and inclusion

    • Participate and contribute to team building strategy

    • Demonstrate ability to have crucial conversations with team members

    • Evangelize TCS goals and process changes and execute agreed solutions with minimal supervision

  • Tools & Competencies

    • Familiarity with tools such as: Confluence, Jira, Notebook LM, Acrolinx, Pendo, Google suite

    • Project Management skills a plus

    • Ability to read basic code and/or program a plus

    • Knowledge of APIs a plus

    • Familiarity with programming languages, databases, networks, and knowledge infrastructure a plus

    • Experience working in an Agile environment preferred

    • Demonstrate ability to learn new tools and processes quickly

    • Ability to work on multiple assignments under tight deadlines

    • Attention to detail

    • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team

    • Ability to adapt to rapid changes in the team or Company

    • Demonstrate good listening skills

As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location.

• The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the NYC Metro Area is 96,000-128,000.

• The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the California Bay Area is 101,250 -135,000.

• The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the Boston Metro Area is 94,500 - 126,000.

• The salary range for positions that will be physically based in Texas or Ohio is 84,375 -112,500.

• The salary range for positions that will be physically based in all other locations within the United States is 85,500 - 114,000.

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
