About the team: The Pricing Team is a dedicated function within the Finance organization and supports all Offering Leads and commercial stakeholders. The Pricing Team is responsible for supporting price definition for new and existing offerings within our Offering organization, conducting analysis to guide go-to-market (GTM) and business strategy decisions, and partnering with our Sales organization to maximize profits and growth.

Role overview: The Pricing Advisor will act as an internal consultant and advise our offerings by designing and implementing pricing structures and prices for new and existing offerings. This includes building a solid understanding of the offering's value position and GTM strategy, assessing the market and our clients' willingness to pay, and creating a pricing strategy that will maximize profits and growth for the offering. In addition, this role will be responsible for authoring best practice guidance and identifying operational areas of improvement within the team. While his role is an individual contributor, they will need to coordinate and be accountable for staff from other functions to achieve our goals in a matrixed and global environment. This role will only tangentially support buying transactions (Deal Desk) and will not create quotes for clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage individual projects to create or refine pricing strategies for our SaaS, data, or service offerings
  • Design the commercial relationship with corporate partners
  • Partner with offering teams to identify and process market information and feature positioning to identify value positioning
  • Identify opportunities for value-base and premium pricing structures
  • Conduct interviews and and collect qualitative and quantitative data to make decisions and recommendations regarding price related topics
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses to inform and defend pricing strategy recommendations
  • Present findings and recommendations to a variety of stakeholders at all levels of the organization; with special attention to simplifying complex data analysis and "telling a story"
  • Work collaboratively in a matrixed environment to build relationships and compete work in an expedient manner
  • Document best practices, guidance, and policies to be added to our Pricing Center of Excellence that will guide our team and inform our self-service AI agents
  • Identify opportunities for internal improvement related to the operations of the team

Skills:

  • Ability to design and implement business strategies
  • Intermediate understanding and application of project management techniques
  • Experience interviewing internal and external resources and collecting disparate information to inform analyses or recommendations
  • Extensive experience conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses using Excel, Tableau, or other tools
  • Experience with documenting and improving operational processes
  • Ability to present complex data analyses and business strategies in a digestible format for senior management
  • Strong sense of accountability and a desire for high-quality deliverables
  • A natural curiosity to ask questions and learn

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or other similar discipline
  • MBA is preferred
  • 8+ years experience in mid-sized or large, global enterprises
  • 3+ years in a management consulting role
  • Demonstrated experience being a trusted advisor to internal or external clients
  • 3+ years SaaS experience or financial modeling experience
  • Knowledge of life sciences industry from the perspective of a sponsor or CRO
  • Hands on experience creating pricing or business strategies and involved with their deployment
  • Experience creating or impacting GTM strategies for SaaS or similar products
  • Passion to learn new areas of the business and working techniques and share that information with the team
  • A vision for your career path

As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location.

  • The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the NYC Metro Area is $114,750.00 to 153,000.00
  • The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the California Bay Area is $121,500.00 to 162,000.00
  • The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the Boston Metro Area is $113,250.00 to 151,000.00
  • The salary range for positions that will be physically based in Texas or Ohio is $101,250.00 to 135,000.00
  • The salary range for positions that will be physically based in all other locations within the United States is $102,750.00 to 137,000.00

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
