About the Team:

Software Engineer with 5+ years' experience for hands-on development and Support of Medidata's software applications. The Engineer is one who works very quickly to resolve high  impact, challenging, engineering problems while continuously raising the standard of quality in  our products and services in a full solutions-oriented SaaS environment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Competent in Tech stack  
  • Provide technical impact assessment
  • Review pull requests for functional aspects
  • Perform local refactoring when making changes
  • Contribute to continuous integration pipeline
  • Contribute to addressing Technical debt
  • Modify and troubleshoot automated deployment implementation
  • Ability to support and communicate complex performance issues
  • Works collaboratively as part of the development team with product managers, UI  engineers and UX designers, in an agile environment
  • Ability to debug and analyze issues in a distributed SOA environment to find root causes  and make technical impact assessments
  • Can thrive working in a fast paced dynamic environment
  • A desire to stay current with new technologies and engineering concepts

Your Competencies:

  • Basic understanding of clinical research (pharma, device and/or biotech sectors)  and of Clinical Research SaaS technology.
  • Able to demonstrate good verbal/written communication combined with some  organizational and presentational skills.
  • Exhibits time management skills combined with strong collaboration and team building awareness.
  • Experience in supporting project teams and meeting project timelines would be  advantageous
  • Self-motivated, able to work remotely and able to assume responsibility in a  professional manner.
  • Can demonstrate some computing skills and has experience with MS Office suite,  Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a computer science or Software development related field or equivalent  experience
  • 5+ years experience with Object Oriented analysis and design,  C#.NET, ASP.NET Webforms and/or MVC and Microsoft SQL
  • 1+ years using AI software development tools i.e. Github Copilot, Claude Code, Codex,  etc. Plus ChatGPT, Gemini,Copilot, etc. to accelerate development and your work
  • 1+ years experience with Docker containers / kubernetes  
  • 4+ years SQL performance analysis experience, using profiler to find and resolve slow  SQL
  • Ability to effectively critique other's code in Pull Requests
  • Capacity to refactor code
  • Experience with BDD and TDD and ability to apply appropriate design patterns
  • Experience with unit test frameworks  

  • Ability to write acceptance criteria for features in simple business language

  • Experience with complex SQL queries and database performance issues
  • Use of a distributed source control system (such as Git)  
  • Experience using bug-tracking tools such as Jira
  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools like Jenkins/Hudson
  • Working knowledge of XML and related technologies
  • Must be flexible, independent and self motivated
  • Experience working in a Scrum agile software development environment
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills
  • Strong ability to multitask; manage and prioritize multiple, diverse projects  simultaneously

As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than New York City, may differ based on the local market data in that region.

The salary range for positions that will be physically based in Iselin, NJ is $114,750- $153,000. 

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
