About the Team:

We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Sr. Market Intelligence Analyst to join our Market Intelligence team. In this role, you will analyze clinical trial market data, monitor industry and competitor activity, structure complex datasets, and deliver actionable insights that inform business decisions. You will play a key role in supporting go-to-market strategies, competitive positioning, market opportunity assessments, and strategic planning efforts that contribute to Medidata's growth. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, highly analytical, and passionate about using data, automation, and emerging technologies to improve the speed, quality, and scalability of market intelligence.

Responsibilities:

  • Market Research & Analysis: Conduct research on industry trends, market dynamics, customer needs, regulatory developments, and emerging opportunities. Synthesize findings into concise summaries and recommendations for strategy, product, marketing, and executive stakeholders.
  • Competitive Intelligence & Tracking: Monitor competitor activity, including product launches, pricing changes, partnerships, acquisitions, positioning, marketing strategies, and go-to-market motions. Maintain structured trackers and signals that feed into team-wide battlecards, briefs, and executive updates.
  • Market Sizing & Forecasting: Maintain and enhance the Addressable Market model, including TAM/SAM analyses, forecasting assumptions, and market sizing inputs to anticipate market shifts, customer behavior, and competitive dynamics.
  • Customer & Market Insights: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to aggregate and analyze customer feedback, win/loss insights, market signals, and field intelligence. Translate findings into actionable recommendations for product, marketing, and commercial teams.
  • Data Analytics and Reporting: Analyze data using Excel, Python, SQL, Tableau, or similar tools to identify trends, patterns, and market signals. Build clear dashboards and visualizations that communicate insights effectively to both technical and business stakeholders. Develop scripts and lightweight tools to streamline recurring data pulls, clean messy datasets, streamline signal tracking, and reduce manual research time.
  • AI-Assisted Research Workflows: Experiment with and build AI-enabled research workflows using tools such as NotebookLM, Gemini, LLM-based summarization, or similar technologies. Focus on improving research speed and synthesis while ensuring outputs remain source-grounded, accurate, and reliable.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in market research, competitive intelligence, or business analytics, preferably in Life Sciences, Clinical Trials, or Healthcare technology industries.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Strong data analysis skills with proficiency in tools like Excel, Tableau, R, Python or similar platforms for effective data storytelling.
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel (up to 10-20%) for industry conferences and customer events
  • Knowledge of clinical development trends, go-to-market strategies, competitive benchmarking, and pricing models is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SaaS products, pricing structures, healthcare informatics, or technology platforms.

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
