Web-based, Browser-independent Electronic Data Capture Solution
Allows Customers to Work Seamlessly with Microsoft IE7

NEW YORK, NY – November 28, 2006 – Medidata Solutions, a global provider of electronic clinical data capture, management and reporting solutions, today announced that its Rave® solution is compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer 7. Recognizing the need to meet the evolving technical requirements of every customer, Medidata Solutions built its Rave software to be compatible with any browser and operating system.

The new version of the Internet Explorer browser provides upgraded security and privacy protection, end-user experiences, and platform advances for Web and application developers. While not all EDC vendors’ solutions support IE7, Rave was designed as a Web-enabled, zero-client software, and its compatibility with and certification on the IE7 Web-based browser allows customers to streamline trials and access clinical data from any computer at any location. Medidata Rave’s compatibility with Microsoft IE7 is critical to both sponsors working with sites and users who access Medidata Rave on a global scale.

“Our research and development team has been working with Internet Explorer 7 throughout its beta cycle to verify compatibility at the time of release,” said Glen de Vries, chief technology officer at Medidata Solutions. “Thanks to the platform and browser independence of Medidata Rave, our customers can immediately take advantage of enhancements in technology and be assured that their sites will not incur any interruption in participation in an on-going clinical study—even with such a major event as the introduction of the latest version of the Internet Explorer.”

Microsoft developed IE7 to dramatically improve the online experience for consumers, IT professionals and developers. IE7’s upgraded functionalities include enhanced navigation, dynamic security protection through robust new architecture, and an improved platform for Web development and manageability in order to deploy and manage the browser in large enterprise environments.

“Life sciences companies strive to empower their employees to make knowledge-driven decisions around the most recent clinical data. And in this new era of web services, that means ensuring they can access this information using the enhanced navigational and security features of Internet Explorer 7,” said Paul Mattes, industry solutions director, U.S. Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences Vertical Group, Microsoft. “With IE7 compatibility, Medidata is enabling their customers to use Rave in combination with the industry’s most state-of-the-art browser technology.”
