Role Overview:

As a Full-Stack Software Engineering Intern, you will join Medidata’s Cloud Engineering team to build the next generation of intelligent internal tools and dashboards. We are moving beyond traditional infrastructure management by exploring how AI and LLMs can automate cloud operations, provide predictive scaling, and simplify developer workflows.

You will be a "product builder" on a cross-functional team, responsible for designing sleek React frontends and building robust Python (FastAPI/Django) APIs. You won't just be building interfaces; you will be exploring how to integrate AI-driven insights into our Public (AWS) and Private Cloud environments to support over 36,000 clinical trials globally.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • Must be available for a 12-week internship during Summer 2026.

  • Expected graduation date of November 2026 or later.

  • 1+ years of experience developing software with Python and JavaScript/TypeScript.

  • A strong curiosity about how Generative AI and Machine Learning can be applied to infrastructure and DevOps.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building responsive applications with React.js.

  • Interest in designing interfaces for AI-powered features, such as natural language search for cloud resources or automated troubleshooting assistants.

  • Understanding of modern JavaScript hooks and asynchronous data fetching.

  • Hands-on experience building RESTful APIs using FastAPI or Django.

  • Experience (academic or project-based) with LangChain, OpenAI SDKs, or Bedrock to build AI-augmented backend services.

  • Experience with SQL (PostgreSQL) and an interest in Vector Databases (like Pinecone or pgvector) for AI context storage.

  • Exposure to AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda) and Python's boto3 library.

  • Experience with Docker and an interest in how AI can optimize Kubernetes (K8s) orchestration.

  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and the desire to automate "everything" using Python.
