About the Team:
In this role, you will report to the Director, Business Development and Product Marketing, helping to identify new potential customers and unexplored markets in the Japan Life Science market, from R&D to Clinical and Manufacturing segments. As a Senior Business Development Specialist, you will collaborate with a diverse team, including Demand Marketing, Regional Account Managers, Solution Consultants and Product Specialists, to create new business opportunities and qualify marketing-generated leads, ultimately driving growth for Medidata Solutions in Japan.
Responsibilities:
Senior Business Development Specialist plays a strategic role in identifying new markets and developing new potential customers or unexplored markets. The responsibilities of a Business Development Specialist include:
- Work closely with sales team to conduct research for potential new markets across ALL Life Science buying centers based on set criteria and reporting on outcome in created dashboards.
- Complete weekly activities to meet Business Development performance metrics, including updating Business Development dashboards and exercising Salesconnect discipline.
- Build and execute a business development strategy to build the business within your specific assigned territory and portfolio.
- Build relationships with new and existing contacts specific to your territory to create demand for Life science portfolio, research and exploration of prospects core challenges.
- Work through Medidata NDA agreements with internal and prospect/customer legal councils to ensure the necessary paperwork is completed.
- Set meetings with Sales and technical specialists to generate and qualify identified opportunities, thereafter, coordinate qualified opportunity handoff from the Business Development team to the assigned Regional Account Managers.
- Take ownership of your opportunity management, conduct self-initiated outreach activities, identifying risks, and back everything up with data-based insights.
- Update activities completed on Salesforce and Outreach to ensure consistent accurate reporting
- Active self-prospecting & outreach in Salesconnect to discover and qualify potential contacts, identifying key decision makers, using the BANT methodology to identify new opportunities across clinical and research and development companies
- Learn and maintain knowledge of our Life Science products and solutions, as well as competitive landscape (Medidata, Biovia and 3DS Brands) to have meaningful conversations and deliver high level life science messages during customer meetings.
- When required, participate in company-sponsored customer-facing events and marketing driven campaigns designed to stimulate more brand and product awareness. Post event, work closely with the marketing team on validating and qualifying Marketing-generated leads in a timeline manner.
- Maintain reporting dashboards and provide updates and status through cadenced calls during marketing and sales meetings.
- Stays up to date on trends in eClinical Technology and Life Sciences industries by researching on Internet, industry publications, and third-party tools to identify new buying centers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Business or Computer Science preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
- 3 – 5 years of previous tele-sales experience required
- Successful Sales/Business Development experience including overachieving against sales goals and a working understanding of sales methodologies in a software pr SaaS environment
- Conduct Executive level discussions from VP to CXO and solution selling
- Excellent organizational, Salesconnect record keeping, reporting and time management skills
- Strong collaboration with marketing & sales teams
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to assume responsibility and work autonomously in a professional manner
- Native-level Japanese and a strong command of both spoken and written English are required.
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
