About the Team:
We are looking for a technically strong Senior Revenue Accountant to join our Revenue Accounting team at a $1B+ SaaS company. This is a high-impact role that sits at the intersection of technical accounting and operational execution — you will own complex revenue recognition analysis under IFRS 15 / ASC 606 while also playing an active role in the monthly close and balance sheet management.
Our Revenue Accounting Manager is a strong, cross-functional leader who partners closely with Sales, Operations, and FP&A. This role is specifically designed to serve as the technical anchor of the team, enabling the manager to operate in a reviewer capacity and ensuring that complex accounting matters are handled with rigor and independence.
Responsibilities:
Technical Accounting & Documentation
• Review and interpret non-standard customer contracts to identify accounting implications and ensure proper revenue treatment
• Serve as a primary point of contact for external auditors on revenue-related matters, including preparation of audit support and responses to technical inquiries
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of new or evolving accounting standards and assist in updating internal accounting policies accordingly
• Partner with Legal and Deal Desk on non-standard contract terms, and support the Revenue Accounting Manager in providing real-time technical guidance during deal structuring
Month-End Close & Operational Accounting
• Assist with the monthly revenue close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of revenue recognition
• Own balance sheet accounting for deferred revenue and unbilled receivables, including preparation of reconciliations, roll-forwards, and variance analyses
• Prepare journal entries related to revenue and related accounts, ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
• Support the revenue operations and sales compensation accounting functions as needed, providing coverage and technical review
• Contribute to continuous improvement of close processes, documentation, and internal controls, including supporting the implementation of new AI-driven automation tools
Collaboration & Team Development
• Work closely with the Revenue Accounting Manager, providing well-documented analysis that supports a reviewer-level sign-off workflow
• Assist in mentoring junior team members on technical accounting concepts and close processes
• Collaborate with FP&A, Legal, Sales Operations, and external auditors on revenue-related matters
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA license required (active or in process)
• 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with meaningful exposure to technical revenue recognition
• Deep working knowledge of IFRS 15 and/or ASC 606, including application to complex SaaS or subscription-based arrangements
• Public accounting experience (Big 4 or national firm) strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to independently research accounting issues, reach supportable conclusions, and prepare clear documentation
•Strong Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Workday, Oracle)
•Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
•Experience at a SaaS or subscription-based technology company
•Experience supporting Big 4 audits and preparing technical accounting documentation reviewed at the senior manager or partner level
•Exposure to sales compensation accounting or revenue operations accounting
•Experience working in a high-growth or post-IPO environment
