About the Team:
The Strategy Manager will play a key role in driving corporate and product strategy initiatives, shaping the future of our multi-product platform. This role will be responsible for designing, running and synthesizing analyses and market research, and working closely with cross-functional leaders to inform recommendations on long-term business direction and product investment decisions. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong analytical background, ownership and ability to excel at working with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Market and Competitive Analysis
- Run and synthesize market research, including primary (interviews) and secondary (desktop research), to identify customer needs, market trends, and gaps
- Assess potential of emerging technologies and investment trends
- Understand competitive landscape, emerging players, and industry disruption
- Opportunity Assessments
- Assess identified opportunities via primary and secondary market research
- Design, conduct and interpret analyses in partnership with Strategy Director
- Evaluate build/buy/partner approach by assessing technology differentiation and competitive landscape
- Build a business case including financial and business models to support market sizing and ROI assessments
- Translate data and insights into clear, actionable recommendations
- Strategy Translation into Roadmap (0 to 1)
- Develop minimum viable product (MVP) theses for identified opportunities and define building blocks that can be tested in market, working closely with R&D function
- Support market feedback assessment of early-stage product ideas, and identify paths to commercialization and scalability
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Management
- Partner with leaders across the organization, including but not limited to R&D, Offering Management, Portfolio Management, Sales, Finance, and Customer Strategy to drive cross-functional alignment and progress
- Develop and maintain initiative workplans, flag risks and drive accountability where needed
- Build and support business processes to support scaling the strategy organization
Qualifications:
- Experience: Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of work experience or equivalent, including a minimum of 2 years in management consulting, healthcare consulting, investment banking, venture capital, or strategy / product management in high growth tech. Exposure to Life Sciences industry or B2B software preferred. MBA or advanced degree in a related field is a plus.
- Problem solving: Exceptional ability to identify the most important issues, define a hypothesis driven problem solving approach, and lead to successful solution. Ability to lead and structure analyses and primary (interviews, surveys) and secondary research using an answer-first approach, and work with large data sets
- Collaboration and Teams: Outstanding team player, with a go-getter attitude and demonstrated critical thinking; proven ability to manage cross-functional initiatives, bring along stakeholders and get buy-in, and influence others
- Communication: Ability to structure and present findings to internal and external audiences in a concise and compelling manner
- Impact-orientation: Quick learner with a passion for making an impact on health care and advance the development of treatments
As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the NYC Metro Area is $135,000 to $180,000.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the California Bay Area is $141,750 to $189,000.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the Boston Metro Area is $132,750 to $177,000.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in Texas or Ohio is $118,500 to $158,000.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in all other locations within the United States is $120,750 to $161,000.
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
