From Intern to Full Time: Samantha M.

What was your favorite part about the internship experience?
I interned at Medidata in the Marketing department in the summer of 2018 after my junior year of college. From my very first day, I felt like an integral part of my team and not just an intern. My main project allowed me to work cross functionally to plan and understand the roles and tactics involved in a fully integrated campaign. I worked with numerous stakeholders that allowed me to gain tangible, physical experience and become exposed to different areas of marketing. I was able to gain multiple skills and see what areas of marketing sparked my interests the most. One of my favorite parts of the internship program was the weekly meetings exposing us to the senior leadership team.

How would you describe the transition from working as an intern to working full time?
I am glad that my time at Medidata didn’t end with the last day of my internship. I have now been a full-time employee at Medidata for a little over a year working as a Demand Marketing Coordinator. The supportive culture at Medidata is just one of the reasons why I couldn’t have asked for a better place to start my career. It has been really reassuring to know that my colleagues want to help and see me grow in my career and are willing to go out of their way to do so. The mission at Medidata is what drew me to first apply for an internship and is what still to this day motivates me as a full-time employee.

Did you have any mentors who helped you along the way?
Although I didn’t have an assigned mentor, many people at Medidata have embodied the characteristics of a mentor and been extremely helpful with growth and learning.

What do you enjoy most about your new role?
The best part of my job is the constant communication and collaboration with different roles and teams across the organization. It gives me a taste of everything and keeps me on my toes!

What advice do you have for recent grads looking to convert an internship into a full-time position?
Take initiative and advantage of all the opportunities and resources given to you and meet as many co-workers as you can!
