About the Team:
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Head of Product to lead our entire product organization in the Data Experience and define the future of our platform. Reporting directly to the Experience Leader, you will be responsible for setting the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements (e.g., GxP, HIPAA), and driving the growth and adoption of our core product pillars: Data, Study, and Patient.
The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical/biotech R&D lifecycle and a proven track record of successfully launching and scaling enterprise software products in a regulated industry.
Responsibilities:
Product Vision and Strategy
- Define the holistic 3-year product strategy and roadmap, translating business goals, scientific needs, and regulatory mandates into a compelling product vision.
- Own the P&L and market success of the entire product suite, driving key metrics related to user adoption, customer retention, and platform value.
- Lead the market analysis, competitive landscape assessment, and voice-of-customer efforts to identify opportunities for innovation and growth.
Product Pillar Leadership (select as applicable):
1.Data & Insights Products:
- Set the strategy for our data foundation, warehousing, and analytics capabilities, focusing on data quality, integrity, and interoperability.
- Drive the productization of AI/ML models and advanced analytics features that generate clinical insights and accelerate scientific discovery.
- Ensure all data products adhere to the highest standards of regulatory compliance (e.g., 21 CFR Part 11, audit trails).
2.Study & Clinical Trial Products:
- Oversee the product line dedicated to managing clinical trials (e.g., EDC, eTMF, CTMS functionality).
- Focus on optimizing the workflow efficiency for clinical operations teams, site staff, and monitors, reducing study cycle times.
- Integrate compliance by design, ensuring features support GCP (Good Clinical Practice) and validation requirements.
3.Patient & Engagement Products:
- Define the strategy for our patient-facing solutions (e.g., eConsent, ePRO/eCOA, decentralized trial components).
- Prioritize user experience (UX) to drive patient engagement and retention, while maintaining strict adherence to patient privacy (HIPAA/GDPR).
- Lead the development of features that enhance data collection quality and accessibility for participants in diverse settings.
Cross-Functional Management
- Collaborate closely with Engineering leadership to prioritize, scope, and deliver the roadmap using agile methodologies.

Collaborate with peers across experiences to ensure products are integrating and marketing with synergy

Define, maintain and manage the processes product management will follow to promote consistency
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to develop go-to-market strategies, sales enablement materials, and clear product positioning.
- Serve as the executive product evangelist, presenting the platform vision to key customers, partners, and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications:

10+ years of experience in product management or in a senior leadership role (e.g., VP/Head of Product).

Direct and extensive experience within the Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, or Clinical Research industries is mandatory.

Expertise in building high-performing product teamsby combining a passion for career coaching with the ability to implement rigorous product processes that drive consistent, high-quality output

Proven success in building, launching, and scaling enterprise SaaS/PaaS platforms that serve highly regulated customers.

Deep familiarity with clinical trial workflows and core industry technologies (e.g., EDC systems, CTMS).

Expert understanding of key regulatory and compliance standards in the life sciences, including GxP, HIPAA, GDPR, and 21 CFR Part 11.

Exceptional leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring a team of product managers, owners, and designers.
Preferred Experience
- Master’s degree or PhD in a scientific, medical, or technical discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Biology, Public Health).
- Experience with Data Governance and the application of AI/Machine Learning in clinical data analysis.

The salary range posted below refers only to positions that will be physically based in New York City. As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the NYC Metro Area is $216,000-$288,000
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
