About the Team:

We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Sr. Manager, Communications and Engagement to lead initiatives that create lasting improvements in clinical trials, patient experiences, and internal engagement efforts. Reporting to the Chief Patient Officer, this role is ideal for a mission-driven leader with a strong foundation in public policy, communication frameworks, and social impact strategy, backed by advanced study and deep expertise in social issues and technology. You will craft and implement initiatives that enhance corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, empower patient communities, and drive measurable social change in clinical research. Additionally, this role will foster alignment across internal teams, spearhead initiatives that strengthen employee engagement with social impact priorities, and cultivate an inclusive and mission-driven workplace culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop compelling messaging, reports, and thought leadership content that highlight the company's commitment to social impact and patient engagement. Craft and execute communication strategies that effectively engage both internal staff and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment in messaging.
  • Empower employees with resources and narratives that reinforce the company's mission, while also amplifying the organization's impact through external advocacy efforts, industry discussions, and public-facing initiatives.
  • Design innovative strategies to expand equitable access to clinical trials, breaking down barriers to participation and ensuring diverse patient representation.
  • Partner with internal teams, enhancing the company's reputation as a leader in ethical research while fostering employee pride and engagement in meaningful, globally impactful work.
  • Develop and execute methods to ensure that our software and data solutions promote ethical, inclusive, and patient-centric advancements in clinical trials.
  • Cultivate and maintain meaningful relationships with patients, advocacy groups, policymakers, and internal stakeholders to ensure their diverse voices inform company initiatives.Foster collaboration across teams to align internal efforts with external partnerships to drive impactful strategies that reflect the needs of both employees and the broader community.
  • Collaborate with product and data science teams to integrate ethical considerations into AI-driven analytics, ensuring fair representation and mitigating bias in clinical research.
  • Define key impact metrics and develop reports to track progress, demonstrating the effectiveness of social impact initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partner with HR and leadership to drive company-wide initiatives that encourage employee participation in social impact programs.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in humanities, social sciences, communications, public policy, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in corporate social responsibility, patient advocacy, communications, or related fields.
  • Strong background in leveraging technology for social good, with an understanding of digital equity and ethical AI.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience in thought leadership, storytelling, and stakeholder communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships across diverse communities, advocacy groups, and corporate stakeholders.
  • Strong background in clinical trials software and technologies and life sciences.
  • Experience measuring and reporting on social impact initiatives with clear, data-driven insights.
  • Passion for healthcare, patient engagement, and advancing equity in clinical research.

The salary range posted below refers only to positions that will be physically based in New York City. As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than New York City, may differ based on the local market data in that region.

The base salary pay range for this position is $135,000-$160,000.

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
