About the Team:
The Vice President of Strategy will play a critical leadership role in shaping the future of our multi-product platform. This executive will be responsible for driving strategic alignment across the organization, translating corporate goals into a coordinated product strategy, and developing a rolling comprehensive cross-platform roadmap for the 18 month to 3+ year horizon. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in product strategy within the technology and/or life sciences space, a sharp understanding of market and customer dynamics, and a strong ability to align cross-functional teams around a shared vision.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Vision:
· Define strategic direction and prioritization areas for a portfolio of products based on industry knowledge, understanding of market trends, customer needs and 3DS / Medidata vision.
· Act as a key partner to the executive team in defining and executing corporate growth strategies.
· Co-own the strategy of the Experience with the Experience Lead
· Assess build/buy/partner approach for strategic initiatives to compete effectively
· Direct market research, interpretation of output and go/no-go decisions
Translate Strategy into Executable Roadmap:
· Translate strategic priorities into an integrated 18 month to 3 year strategy and milestones for a suite of products, ensuring cross-product coherence and scalability.
· Highlight risks, trade-offs, and identify accelerators needed to achieve goals
· Guide conceptualization of new offerings and early definition of commercial model in partnership with Offering Management for offerings supporting product strategy via customer conversations, proposals and early adopter engagements
Cross-Functional Leadership:
· Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success teams to ensure successful roadmap execution.
· Liaise with Offering Management, Global Marketing and Product Marketing to roll-out aligned GTM strategy for new offerings, product launches and features
· Facilitate alignment across departments, fostering transparency and shared accountability for strategic goals.
Market Pulse and Thought Leadership:
· Maintain strong market awareness by monitoring industry trends, competitive landscape and attending industry conferences
· Lead strategic customer conversations on new innovation areas to validate longer term roadmap, and generate feedback
· Collaborate with customer success and sales teams to gather and understand customer feedback and recommend strategic pivots as needed
· Showcase thought leadership and represent the company at key industry and customer events
Qualifications:
· 15+ years of experience in product strategy, corporate strategy, or product leadership roles, ideally in healthcare, clinical trials, or enterprise software.
· Proven track record of leading strategic planning and roadmap development for complex, multi-product platforms.
· Deep understanding of the clinical trial ecosystem, regulatory environment, and healthcare technology landscape strongly preferred.
· Strong analytical, primary and secondary market research, business model, and financial modeling skills.
· Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
· MBA or advanced degree in a related field is a plus
As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location.
- The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the NYC Metro Area is $216,00-$288,000.
- The salary range for positions that will be physically based in all other locations within the United States is $193,500 to $129,000.
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
