Your Mission:

The Software Engineer Function is responsible for hands-on development  and Support of Medidata’s software applications. The Engineer is one who works very quickly to resolve high impact, challenging, engineering problems while continuously raising the standard of quality in our products and services in a full solutions-oriented SaaS environment.

Required Skills:

  • 3+ years of C#.NET, ASP.NET Webforms and/or MVC and SQL.

  • 2+ years SQL performance analysis experience, using profiler to find and resolve slow SQL

  • Ability to develop and communicate complex performance issues to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Access production monitoring

  • Diagnose issues while dealing with initial uncertainty and incomplete information

  • Identify root causes

  • Create fixes with unit tests where appropriate

  • Create unit tests and step definitions for test automation where appropriate

Your Competencies:

  • Experience with SQL indices, statistics, query plan analysis 

  • Experience with performance analyzing C# code (i.e. dottrace, ANTS profiler, etc.)

  • Experience working with code repositories such as GitHub.

  • Experience working with Visual Studio .NET

  • Experience using bug-tracking tools such as Jira.

  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools like Jenkins/Hudson.

  • Working knowledge of XML and related technologies.

  • Experience coding in Ruby.

  • Experience working in a Scrum agile software development environment.

  • Experience working in highly regulated environments.

  • Strong analytical and debugging skills.

  • Strong ability to multitask; manage and prioritize multiple, diverse projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be flexible, independent and self motivated.

Your Education & Experience:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 2 years and a Master’s degree                                                              

  • Basic understanding of C#/ .NET Framework is a required element of the position

  • Basic understanding of Git and how it functions in a shared team development environment is great to have, and will serve you well in the position
