Our Team:

The Platform Data Sciences team is part of Medidata A.I. organization. We focus on developing saleable data science and software services as products. Those products embed AI/ML and algorithms into Medidata solutions to provide the next generation of features and functionality to solve the most challenging problems in clinical studies and healthcare. Our products are as much about the user experience (UX) as the developer experience (DX). We’re all about great experiences and simple interfaces that abstract the complexity of managing volumes of data.

Who we're looking for:

We’re looking for an experienced Product Manager. Someone who shares our passion for solving real customer struggles; Knows how to dream but iterates to a solution by shipping frequently; Loves to build products through continuous discovery.

Here is a list of product management methods we embrace to make sure we frame the problem and shape the right set of solutions. If you’re familiar with and/or have used all or any of these in building successful products, let’s definitely talk. This might be a good fit.

  • We look to JTBD theory and techniques to uncover demand and frame the customer’s struggles.

  • We are big fans of Teresa Torres’ “Continuous Discovery” methods and are starting to embrace them.

  • We love Christopher Alexander’s concepts of pattern languages. We think of finding the right solution (fit) as a set of tradeoffs between Form and Context.

  • We love and embrace various concepts from Shape Up and are starting to use them in product development.

Requirements (Education & Experience):

Given the technical nature of our product, we’re looking for someone who understands the demand side of the equation but is also highly competent on the technology side. You should feel at home discovering demand, talking to customers, understanding the struggles. Then switch to working with the Design and Engineering teams to frame tradeoffs, and iterate to the right solution.

  • You have a track record of building successful products and services and can talk about the problems you were solving and how you arrived at various solutions.
  • You should feel comfortable working with and influence a cross-functional team. Building a successful product is a sum of many ingredients sourced from various places.
  • Although domain expertise is important, some of the best innovations come from unbiased industry outsiders. You might come from a different industry, but building a good product is an art form that is mastered through trials and errors. You should be a fast learner and feel comfortable learning new domains.

  • You’re savvy with technologies. You’ll be responsible for framing the problem and shaping a solution. Your team will include engineers and designers and you should feel at home working with them in defining the right set of solutions.

  • You should feel comfortable saying NO! Relentless focus can help you succeed, but lack of it is sure to make you fail. Product management is an art that requires ruthless prioritization and focus.

  • 5+ years of experience successfully managing and building products. 

The salary range posted below refers only to positions that will be physically based in New York City.  As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location.  Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than New York City, may differ based on the local market data in that region. The base salary pay range for this position is $157,500-$210,000.

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission under the terms of applicable plan documents, while many of Medidata’s non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
