Medidata seeks a Corporate Counsel for our collaborative, business-focused Legal team that operates at the cutting edge of commercial law and life sciences technology. The role requires a practical lawyer who communicates well, and who is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. The Corporate Counsel will manage, draft, and negotiate complex commercial agreements with Medidata's customers, strategic partners, and vendors in EMEA. The Corporate Counsel will also support local Medidata's Sales, strategy, finance, and procurement teams.
The Corporate Counsel position is located at Medidata's London office and will report to Medidata’s New York-based Vice President & Associate General Counsel.
Act as primary legal support for Medidata’s Sales and other internal clients located in EMEA; counsel these internal clients on legal risk, risk mitigation, and appropriate courses of action.
Draft and review a variety of agreements, balancing legal risk and business needs. Types of agreements will include SaaS agreements, partnership agreements, alliance agreements, licenses, service level agreements and vendor agreements.
Lead negotiations with Medidata customers, partners, and vendors in EMEA.
Support review and management of organizational documents for Medidata entities located in EMEA.
Review new product offerings and offer practical advice on how best to incorporate these products in to Medidata's existing legal and contractual framework.
Ability to independently draft and negotiate SaaS and other technology agreements.
Experience supporting and interacting directly with sales teams.
Excellent judgment and a keen business sense.
Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain legal concepts and issues to non-lawyers.
Familiarity with the pharmaceutical, life sciences or health care industries is preferred.
Your Education and Experience:
Must be a qualified lawyer in UK or common law with at least eight years PQE in commercial law and contract negotiation.
Experience working as part of a remote reporting structure
Experience working in house, ideally in the technology or life sciences industries
