Purchasing Analyst

Summary

The Purchasing Analyst will support the Indirect Purchasing needs for our North American operations. Reporting to the Purchasing Director, Americas, the Analyst will work closely with the Sourcing Manager and the Global Purchasing Team to support purchasing activities in North America, with a focus on the Marketing & Events category for the Life Sciences brand Medidata Solutions, Inc.

Position Objectives & Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of local, and occasionally global, sourcing strategies by gathering data and preparing analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and implementation of contracts in conjunction with the Sourcing Manager and corporate attorneys.
  • Help monitor supplier performance, track key metrics, and participate in supplier review meetings.
  • Analyze Marketing & Events spend to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and compliance improvements.
  • Support the Sourcing Manager in developing negotiation strategies by providing data, marketplace benchmarking, and TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) analysis.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Help monitor and enforce efficient sourcing processes in accordance with Dassault Systèmes’ and Medidata’s global policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Procurement teams to ensure purchasing activities align with budget, brand standards, and business objectives.
  • Stay current on relevant industry trends, new market entrants, and category cost drivers, presenting findings to the team.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on spend analysis, savings metrics, and project status.
  • Engage with internal teams as needed to ensure a comprehensive approach, including Legal, Compliance, Treasury, Finance & Accounting, and IT.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree as a minimum.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a purchasing, procurement, or analytical role. Familiarity with Indirect Sourcing, particularly for Marketing & Events, is a strong plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform complex spend and data analysis to support business decisions.
  • Expert proficiency in MS Office, with an emphasis on Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, charts).
  • Experience with or ability to quickly learn integrated ERP software (e.g., Workday) and other procurement tools.
  • Familiarity with purchasing policies, procedures, best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Basic understanding of contract terminology and standard purchasing terms and conditions.
  • An analytical and creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good presentation and communication skills, with the ability to work comfortably with various teams in a global environment.
  • Experience working within a multi-cultural environment is beneficial.
  • Ability to speak French is a plus but not required.

    The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the NYC Metro Area is $66,000.00-88,000.00

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
