Reporting into the Director of the PMO Business Innovation Office, the Senior Business Analyst will utilize their strong functional business expertise and technical competencies to identify, evaluate and implement solutions in a cost effective, scalable and flexible manner to meet the enterprise’s cross-functional business needs.   He/she will be responsible for managing end-user client relationships while responding to both critical and routine application requests as well as interfacing with developers, software vendors and potentially consultants for development and support.

Your Competencies:

·        Collaborate with a broad range of users to identify and document business processes, user stories and test scripts to support the development and integration of business systems.

·        Apply strong analytical and evaluation skills to break down complex concepts and solve business problems.

·     Gather and document business requirements (BRDs) and functional design specifications (FRDs) for conversions, interfaces, and reports

  • Anticipate the needs of stakeholders affected by process change and drive efficient and effective change management process with all stakeholders

  • Engage with IT partners to ensure business needs are correctly translated to support processes and systems changes with high quality results

  • Co-lead design sessions to identify functional gaps and opportunities of improvement 

  • Manage the activities of other analysts and project resources by delegating assignments, following up on progress and reporting status.

  • Understand Quality Assurance processes and be able to define and execute test plans to ensure solution/design meet business requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills able to present complex ideas in a clear, focused and concise manner to all levels of management, both technical and non-technical

  • Ability to influence management to adopt enhancements in business process or technology to increase optimal business performance

  • Have a finger on the pulse of our business partners to understand their top priorities and initiatives

  • Be able to accurately forecast and plan effort of technical work using Agile methodology with the support of IT partners

  • Keep apprised of vendor software product releases and evaluate impact to business processes

  • Keep up with best practices and other related industries that could be incorporated into our technological roadmap

  • Understand networks, databases, object models and workflows with the ability to build entity relationship diagrams and flowcharts that will aid in making key business decisions

  • Ability to work with Internal Audit team to validate and test controls in accordance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and/or IFRS standards

  • Monitor deliverables and ensure timely completion of projects

  • Effectively facilitate meetings with stakeholders at all levels, as well as manage vendor support relationships

  • Effectively train end-users and maintain up-to-date documentation on system procedures

Preferred Competencies:

·        Project management experience

·        Experience with integrated, cloud-based systems required

·        Thorough understanding of the software development life-cycle methodologies (Agile, Waterfall)

·        Ability to proactively engage and build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization

·        Flexibility and attitude to achieve tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities including the ability to multi-task

·        Experience with data migration and data transformation

Requirements (Education & Experience):

·      BA/BS in the field of technology or business preferred.  Strong relevant work experience considered

  •  Requires a minimum of 5-7 years relevant business analysis, and/or application experience

  • Life Sciences industry experience preferred

  • Desirable:

    • Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, QA methodologies

    • Workday Financials, Financial Force, Salesforce, Jira

    • Six Sigma Certification

The salary range posted below refers only to positions that will be physically based in New York City. As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than New York City, may differ based on the local market data in that region. The base salary pay range for this position is $96,000 to $128,000.

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
