About the Team:

Medidata AI organization is building innovative AI products based on the largest collection of clinical data in the world. Our AI teams are staffed with passionate technology and scientific experts who oversee the whole lifecycle of model developing from research, prototyping and deployment and derive satisfaction from getting innovative solution to clients. You will be reporting to Senior Director of Labs Data Science. 

Responsibilities:

You will be a senior technical contributor who will ideate, implement, and productionize new AI driven features integrated with Medidata products. These features focus on combining natural language processing with traditional machine learning methods to improve all facets of running clinical trials including but not limited to study planning, study monitoring, performance analytics. You will provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data scientists who you work with on these efforts, and will be a resource that the rest of the team can lean on to solve technical issues.

  • Perform Research to develop new AI/ML methods in support of Medidata Products such as Rave, Intelligent Trials
  • Provide leadership on projects in establishing the technical solution to a given problem and providing the "why" to explain to clients and stakeholders
  • Mentor junior data scientists to help develop the technical capabilities of the rest of the group
  • Conduct independent research so that Mediata stays at the forefront of the AI/ML field

Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD is required in a computational field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field with a minimum of 7 years of experience
  • Proficiency using Python, SQL, Linux shell scripting, AWS, Docker, and Git
  • Experience with AI service development, familiar with different model serving strategies and service basics (performance, latency, scalability, etc)
  • Technical leadership in both hard and soft skills, proactive, clear, and efficient in communication and cross-team collaboration
  • Strong software development skills with a focus on going from concept to usable prototype.

Nice to have(s) but not required...

  • Experience with LLM or transformer based algorithms and methods
  • Familiarity with NLP in healthcare data datasets in production
  • Familiarity with machine learning infrastructure and frameworks, CI/CD, and MLOps

As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the NYC Metro Area is $157,500- $210,000. 

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
