Your Mission:

Medidata Solutions Consultants (pre-sales engineers) partner with Client Executives and Solution Sales Specialists to drive complex sales cycles across multiple stakeholders within large global clients. Solution Consultants are the technical counterparts in driving account/opportunity strategies, white space analyses, discovery conversations, presentations, demonstration, and sale of all Medidata applications and services.  The position requires a strong technical and clinical leader who understands how their decisions impact and influence the customer’s bottom line while at the same time driving revenue for Medidata. The SC must be seen as a trusted advisor at all levels within an account (C-Suite, user and technical stakeholders, etc.)

Your Responsibilities:

  • Participate in assigned account planning and strategy for successful expansion and adoption of the Medidata Clinical CloudTM
  • Conduct robust discovery sessions to define customer’s critical business issues and strategically position the value of the Medidata platform
  • Guide and collaborate internally with Medidata System and Enterprise Architects in the preparation of standard or custom demo environments and architecture definition
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to clinical teams and key stakeholders (data managers, risk managers, study managers, monitors etc.) from a user to a C-level perspective
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer technical infrastructure and business processes and become a “trusted advisor” to clients focused on outcomes and value realization
  • Drive technical strategy internally with sales team and externally align with customer executives on joint execution plans to ensure successful workshops/ proof of concepts/pilots and other sandbox evaluations
  • Drive technical/functional responses regarding Request for Information as well as Request for Proposals (RFI and RFP)
  • Cross-functional collaboration with the Medidata marketing and business development teams at industry conferences, product webinars and Executive workshops
  • Cross-functional collaboration with Medidata’s Professional Services team to support transition of new account/opportunity details and ensure smooth implementations

Your Competencies: 

  • Knowledge of clinical trials processes (Clinical trial monitoring, data management, study start up, risk-based quality management etc.) through a combination of industry experience and/or education
  • Knowledge/Experience in pre-sales/sales engineering processes (Discovery, Demos, POCs, Value definition and modeling, RFP/RFI response)
  • Experience and understanding of SaaS/Cloud technology
  • Highly self-motivated with ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a larger team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Solid analytical and technical skills
  • Self-motivating, able to assume responsibility and work autonomously on a professional team
  • Exposure to formal sales methodologies (SPIN, Challenger, TAS, R.A.D.A.R etc.)

Your Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the Life Sciences, Business or Computer Science preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of previous technical telesales experience preferred

The salary range posted below refers only to positions that will be physically based in Iselin, NJ (Metropark Office). As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than Metropark, may differ based on the local market data in that region. The base salary pay range for this position is $96,750 to $129,000.

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata’s non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
