Your Mission:

The Senior Manager of Budgeting and Planning will be responsible for the management and oversight of the marketing budget and management processes globally. They will run strategic planning, budgeting, and reconciliation, managing to target budget while optimizing spend and ROI through analysis of performance. They will enforce finance standards across Marketing teams and regions for consistency; implement common management processes and services for budget management; direct operations review of cost and service structures, productivity measures and delivery methods to achieve planned targets; and support the execution of the budget management process (PO, Invoicing and Vendor Setup).

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead financial operations across the entire marketing organization to effectively manage campaign program spend within budget

  • Own and optimize marketing budget planning and reconciliation processes; create and manage monthly tracking reports; conduct budget meetings with each budget owner to analyze their budget, actual spend, and forecast for the year to maintain spending within allocated budget

  • Conduct budget benchmark analysis to deliver insightful reports to influence business decisions on how to improve ROI of marketing investment

  • Perform ongoing assessment of ROI for active campaigns throughout the fiscal year

  • Point of contact for all finance related processes for Marketing; provide guidance to GL team with posting any re-classes necessary after the forecast cycle; Reconcile actuals received from finance and adjust the forecast accordingly

  • Support strategic planning, resource identification, process development and reporting; Create documentation and trainings for Marketing budget owners to ensure best practices are adopted quickly and properly

  • Ensure tracking and systems are in place to enable effective reporting connecting spend to outcomes using Workday, Salesforce and Tableau

  • Ensure financial data is accurate and kept up to date

  • Partner with procurement on agency strategy and cost optimization efforts

  • Perform centralized creation of Marketing PO, Invoicing, and vendor setup in Workday

Your Competencies:

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships at different levels

  • Proven track record in a fast-paced environment

  • Data-driven, strong analytical skills and experience with reporting and data analysis

  • Highly organized and autonomous

  • Proficiency in Salesforce, Workday, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Must be detail oriented and operate with a high degree of rigor

Your Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required with a preference in Marketing, Finance or business-related majors

  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience in B2B Finance, Accounting, Marketing Operations or similar fields

  • Masters or MBA preferred

As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location.

The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the NYC Metro Area is $96,000 - $128,000

The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the California Bay Area is $101,250 - $135,000

The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the Boston Metro Area is $94,500 - $126,000

The salary range for positions that will be physically based in Texas or Ohio is $84,375 - $112,500

The salary range for positions that will be physically based in all other locations within the United States is $85,500 - $114,000
