Patient Advocate

When Teresa was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 36, she realized how essential it was to empower patients, so they could take control of their lives. This life journey started with her award-winning book “I have breast cancer – What now”.
Pursuing a pregnancy after breast cancer a few years after recovery, made her aware of the difficulties that women encounter when they face a similar situation, and in 2015, she founded Baby Beatles the first non-profit organization worldwide to support women who want to become mothers after breast cancer.
Building up on her determination to empower patients, she became a certified coach and in 2016 she started coaching breast cancer patients professionally. Teresa has spent the last four years researching the impact that coaching has on these women, and developing what she has coined as “patient coaching”, a new type of coaching that helps the patient come back from where she is to where she wants to be, looking into the future and reconnecting with her dreams and deep aspirations. The results of this research are soon to be published as her thesis PhD (June 2020).
In 2019, the Pharma industry awarded Teresa with the European Patient Champion Award for her courage and determination at raising the profile of patients; helping to instigate change and influencing others to rally around the patient cause.
Teresa is also a speaker and a business facilitator at international congresses, events and in company activities. She works at IMD business as an executive and leadership coach in different programs and is a coaching professor at EAE business school.
