Meet a Medidatian: Monica W., From Intern to Engineer

Meet Monica, who first started at Medidata as a business analyst intern through our summer internship program and then joined as a full-time senior applications engineer. We are excited to welcome our 2020 summer interns on June 1st. Join us live on Instagram @medidata.solutions on Friday at 2 pm ET to hear more from Monica about her experience as an intern at Medidata.

Location of internship? New York City.

Hometown? Malverne, New York.

How long have you been at Medidata inclusive of your time as an intern? Two years.

What school did you go to? Bachelor’s at Boston University and Master’s at Stony Brook University.

What did you major in? Biomedical Engineering (both degrees).

How did you learn about Medidata’s internship program and why did you join? I networked during grad school and connected with a Medidata colleague. He told me about the company and how much he loved working there. Hearing about their great culture and the intersection of software development with life sciences made me realize Medidata was exactly what I was looking for.

What is your favorite part of being a Medidatian? The culture is awesome. It may sound cliché, but the people I’ve met here are so friendly and down-to-earth, not to mention incredibly intelligent, so I find myself learning new things from them every day.

What was your favorite project or moment during your internship at Medidata? Making a Medidata music video with fellow 2016 interns! We played it for everyone at the end of the intern showcase.

What's your advice for other students looking for an internship at Medidata? Be yourself throughout the job application process and highlight the projects you’re most passionate about.

Our Medidatians are all unique and amazing in their own ways. In our Meet a Medidatian series, we introduce you to Medidata employees from all over the world and share some interesting, fun, and surprising facts about what makes them who they are. Check out the full series.
