Quintiles Strengthens Relationship with Medidata Solutions
through ASPire to Win Accreditation
World’s Largest CRO Completes Highest Level of Medidata Rave Enablement

NEW YORK, N.Y. – December 15, 2008 – Medidata Solutions, a leading provider of clinical trial solutions, today announced that Quintiles Transnational Corp., a worldwide leader in pharmaceutical services, has achieved Medidata’s highest accreditation status, Rave Accredited Plus, within Medidata’s ASPire to Win® partner program. The accreditation marks a significant milestone in the relationship, which has enabled Quintiles to leverage Medidata Rave® electronic data capture (EDC), management and reporting software for its clients.

Medidata’s ASPire to Win program is a non-exclusive enablement and accreditation program that supports selected contract research organizations (CROs) and other organizations to deliver Medidata Rave clinical trial technology along with their own project and data management expertise. With more than a decade of experience in clinical technologies, Quintiles was one of the first CROs to recognize benefits of EDC and has conducted a significant number of electronic trials across a range of therapeutic categories. An ASPire to Win partner since 2006, Quintiles offers Medidata Rave to customers as a solution for efficiently streamlining the clinical trial process. Having attained Rave Accredited Plus status, the most advanced enablement level in the Medidata partner program, Quintiles can now provide the full suite of Medidata Raverelated services, including end user training, study build, reporting, integrations and migrations, serving as a one-stop shop for Medidata Rave implementation services.

“Our corporate mission is to bring unrivalled expertise and knowledge to the life sciences market with the goal of improving healthcare worldwide. Working with Medidata Solutions, we’re able to execute on that goal by offering customers flexibility in the solutions provided to manage all—or parts—of their clinical research process,” said Paula Brown Stafford, executive vice president, global biometrics and transformation, Quintiles. “Furthermore, Rave’s global capabilities and functionality contribute to our international efforts in more than 50 countries—from India to Australia and South Africa to Japan—to help us reach an even broader range of sponsors that are looking to more quickly and safely bring new treatments to market.”

Built on a highly scalable architecture and based on industry standards, Medidata Rave has the flexibility to support the breadth of any organization's clinical processes, while also addressing the unique aspects of individual clinical trials. With multi-language support including unique translation capabilities, Rave is often the preferred EDC platform for trials that require collaboration across geographic and linguistic borders. To meet market demand for Rave, Quintiles has over time increased its investment in its employees’ Rave skills.

“Our partnership with Quintiles brings together a premier global CRO with industry-leading EDC technology to provide life sciences organizations with a complete, tested solution so they can quickly bring safe and effective treatments to the public,” said Graham Bunn, vice president of global partnerships at Medidata Solutions. “We are excited for this milestone in our relationship with Quintiles and look forward to future collaboration on overcoming the challenges associated with today’s clinical research.”

Medidata’s ASPire to Win program includes four certification levels: Rave Aware, Rave Ready, Rave Accredited and Rave Accredited Plus. Since its inception in 2005, the ASPire to Win program has grown to include 16 partners, ranging from smaller clinical consultancies to large, global CROs.
