Medidata Solutions’ Customers Honored in CIO 100 Awards

Wyeth Research and Array BioPharma Recognized for Generating Business Value and Achieving Innovation through Implementation of Medidata Rave

NEW YORK, N.Y. – June 15, 2009 – Medidata Solutions, a leading global provider of hosted clinical development solutions, today announced that customers Wyeth Research and Array BioPharma Inc. have both won CIO 100 awards for the creative and cutting-edge use of technology to generate business value in projects that leveraged Medidata Rave®, an industry-leading electronic data capture (EDC)/clinical data management (CDM) system that streamlinesthe clinical development process.

Wyeth Increases Operational Efficiencies, Further Enhances Safety and Decision Making
In 2007, Wyeth partnered with Medidata Solutions to implement Medidata's Rave EDC/CDM system and develop their Submission Data Tabulation Model (SDTM) standard-based clinical data warehouse. Rave’s ability to provide real-time access to interim clinical data, by significantly increasing the efficiency of data entry following patient visits, enabled dynamic trial execution methods and "early fail" business decisions for study projects and, most importantly, improved the data available for safety-related decisions. Additionally, Medidata Rave's Dynamic Tabulation Engine has more clearly defined SDTM mappings, improving the viability of Wyeth’s warehouse.

"Using the Medidata Rave EDC/CDM system has made a big difference in the efficiency of our business and safety decision processes in drug development," says Jeffrey Keisling, CIO and VP of Corporate Information Services at Wyeth. "These types of collaborations are important to help us find more effective methods to accelerate the development of new medicines and allocate our resources."

Array Integrates Medidata Rave with Visualization Software to Revolutionize Decision Making
In 2005, Array BioPharma initiated a project that leveraged the advanced integration capabilities of Medidata Rave and CoMotion® Trials, a cutting-edge visualization system from General Dynamics Viz initially used by the military, to create a first-of-its-kind decision support tool. This integration has allowed Array to provide their clinical scientists with real-time data that  enables critical decision making across their portfolio. With Rave’s ability to quickly make data available within very short time frames of the data being entered, Array has achieved a competitive advantage over other biotech and pharmaceutical companies.

“Medidata Rave is key to making both tactical and strategic decisions that are critical to our clinical development program,” said Jim Rizzi, Sr. Director of Computational Technology, Array BioPharma. “By making operational information in Medidata Rave available in real time to the entire clinical team, we have achieved a solution that is unique in its ability to ensure the timing and success of new drug development projects.”

“We are excited that Wyeth and Array have been recognized for their business and technology innovation and we’re honored to have been able to support them in achieving their goals,” said Glen de Vries, President, Medidata Solutions. “These CIO Awards validate Medidata's commitment to providing solutions that enable our customers' strategic technology visions and help them to achieve competitive advantage.”

About the CIO 100
The recipients of this year's CIO 100 award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their innovative practices in both business and IT. Next, a team of judges reviewed the applications in depth, looking for unique practices and substantial results. Finally, CIO editors reviewed the judges' recommendations and voted on the final 100. Once the top 100 honorees were selected, several honorees were chosen to receive an additional special award. Complete coverage of the 2009 CIO 100 awards will be on www.cio.com on June 1, 2009 and in the August 1st issue of CIO magazine.
