Medidata Solutions Scales Hosting and Support Services to Meet Growing
Demand for Enterprise Deployments of Rave
Company Adds VP of Information Technology, Opens Additional Data Center and
Expands Breadth of Support Services with C3i Partnership

NEW YORK, NY – May 30, 2006 – Medidata Solutions, a global provider of electronic clinical data capture, management and reporting solutions, today announced the expansion of its customer support services through the addition of a new, state-of-the-art data center and the appointment of Louis Gilbert as vice president of information technology. Medidata has also entered into a strategic partnership with C3i, a consulting and services company that specializes in helping life sciences organizations advance customer management effectiveness.

With global clinical trials and enterprise-wide EDC deployments on the rise, Medidata’s customers are increasingly looking for fast and reliable implementations of its Rave electronic data capture and clinical data management solution. Medidata has strengthened its infrastructure and added resources to increase site support in response to the growing customer need for globally accessible, highly reliable, secure and scalable application performance.

Expanded Hosting Services Speed Delivery and Protect Integrity of Clinical Research Data

Medidata’s expanded Hosting Services allow sponsors to rapidly benefit from Rave, the leading Web-based, thin-client EDC solution. A new Houston-based data center delivers all the benefits of a sponsor’s own internal hosting—reliable storage, accessibility and protection of critical clinical data—without the costs, provisioning, ongoing maintenance and security or privacy concerns associated with the delivery of Web-based applications. Staffed by full-time Medidata employees, the data center is designed to handle thousands of clinical studies simultaneously. Medidata Hosting Services allow customers to access new server deployments within 24 hours, and with Rave’s thin-client architecture, immediately implement trials and manage clinical data globally without deploying unique hardware or software at the investigator site. The new data center is equipped with:

Continuous onsite engineering and security for 24x7 customer support and physical data protection;
Global high-speed connectivity via multiple Internet providers to ensure ease and speed of access;
64-bit high-capacity servers, SAN data storage, network hardware and environmental systems for a fully-redundant, highly scalable infrastructure;
Fully-automated monitoring, intrusion detection and management to ensure early detection and correction of faults without service interruption.

To lead its Hosting Services, Medidata recently appointed Louis Gilbert as vice president of information technology. Gilbert brings 20 years of experience building and operating highly available enterprise application delivery solutions for companies such as Click Commerce, WorldChain and GE Capital IT Solutions.

“By investing in this data center, Medidata has demonstrated its dedication to safeguarding the sponsor’s most critical asset—clinical data,” said Gilbert. “The facility was created in direct response to the customer’s clinical research needs and allows us to manage operational control points to deliver a secure, accessible, highly reliable and scalable clinical data management solution anywhere in the world.”

Strategic Partnership with C3i Brings Added Global Technical Support

Medidata’s additional data center will be complemented by enhanced support services through its partnership with C3i, which currently works with 26 out of the top 50 pharmaceutical companies. C3i’s tailored EDC clinical support services will ensure that Medidata’s customers can quickly implement and conduct clinical trials using Rave while lowering overall IT costs. With resources providing multi-lingual support in more than 15 languages, C3i will enable Medidata to extend its help desk support, site assessments, hardware and telecom provisioning and clinical end-user training. Medidata Rave users will:

Receive highly specialized 24x7 multi-lingual support;
Process new account requests quickly through either phone, email and fax;
Quickly set up clinical sites with necessary computers and connectivity to accelerate the time to trial initiation;

“As Medidata continues to implement some of the largest enterprise deployments in the industry, we are consistently taking steps to guarantee our customers the highest level of service to support their evolving clinical processes,” said Tarek Sherif, CEO of Medidata Solutions. “We have added resources to provide the most robust infrastructure and scalable support to accommodate our clients on a global scale by offering best of breed implementation capabilities.”
